Dear Reader,
Hope you are doing well. It has been a while since we spoke. I have been caught up doing this and that, but you will hear about it later in this post.
I started Girl At Work (GAW) 3 years back, 2nd May 2022 to be precise, on a wing and a prayer.
The wing that there are many many women’s career stories out there that deserve to be told. The prayer that I will be able to tell them consistently and sustain the momentum.
The Universe has been kind in making my endeavour a success. I have told stories and some more, everyday anecdotes, career interviews, money management series, Common Woman features.
You have enjoyed them, cheering me on, debating my theses, giving me feedback and ideas.
Writing is my first love. However, I used to be a “slice of life” writer till the GAW idea popped into my head.
GAW made me serious about subject matter, going deep on the topic of women at the workplace, at the risk of getting brickbats at the same rate I have received bouquets.
GAW gave me new friends, people who walked up to me and told me how this has happened to them too, how that article really “spoke” to them.
GAW gave me purpose and meaning I didn’t know existed, in a strangely satisfying way.
Sorry, I am rambling this morning. I am in a sentimental mood.
GAW has now grown wings, becoming the Woman@Work podcast, a podcast that promises to bring to you the authentic voice of women leaders, as they talk about work, life and everything in between.
Six episodes to a season, this little baby is now an adolescent who wants her voice to go far and wide beyond the realm of texts and notes.
Shot in cars that the hosts drive across the city of Mumbai while the guests drive the conversation, it is a metaphor reminding us of how women break stereotypical norms of society day in and day out.
Episode 1 of Season 1 drops next week. Meanwhile, watch our trailer here and let us know what you think.
P. S. Writing is far easier than turning up for a shoot. Continuity, contingency, confusion. Oh my goodness, I am never gonna crib about a badly made movie anymore.
P. P. S. Views strictly personal. This substack and podcast are being run at an individual capacity and have no linkage to any organization I was or currently am associated with.
