It's difficult for sure. One thing I've done in my life is drop a lot of commitments intentionally so my mental space doesn't get fragmented. This allows for long periods of time to just do deep work (if I so desire). That, of course, comes with other things you lose out on (maybe).
The other thing that helps is to always prioritize time over other things (mainly cost / money). Living very close to work, spending for convenience over value, automating / removing decisions on things, etc. Not always possible too but it's also a choice of prioritizing time over all else.
“Prioritise time” is such an eloquent way of putting it. And yes, absolutely agree with all you say. But, dropping commitments for deep work is also a trade off, and I am not sure there’s one right answer there.
